Maison Margiela

Maison Margiela, originally known as Maison Martin Margiela, is a French luxury fashion house established in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela and Jenny Meirens. Headquartered in Paris, the brand creates both haute couture-inspired artisanal collections and ready-to-wear lines, with the former often influencing the latter. Its product offerings span womenswear, menswear, footwear, jewellery, accessories, leather goods, perfumes, and even household items. Maison Margiela is renowned for its deconstructivist and avant-garde designs, often using unconventional materials. The brand is also famous for staging fashion shows in unexpected locations, such as empty metro stations and street corners. To emphasize the clothing over the models, their faces are frequently obscured by fabric or long hair. Martin Margiela stepped down as creative director in 2009, and John Galliano took over in 2014. Galliano resigned in 2024, and as of now, the identity of his successor remains unknown.
